We could never have forecast exactly how tough 2023 was to be.
The last few years in hospitality has been, to put it mildly, an uphill battle; a constant slog against events outside of all of our control, like Brexit, Covid-19, the cost-of-living crisis, a utilities crisis, inflation, staff shortages, the war in Ukraine, rising wages, rising interest rates, and increased taxes.
Mid-way through last year we then suffered a fairly catastrophic kitchen fire which meant we had to close for several weeks during peak-season. However, not to be beaten, we set-up a temporary kitchen facility which we are still operating from today whilst the building repair works continue to be resolved in the background. We couldn't have done this without our excellent team, who, when the chips were down, really pulled together to get the show back on the road.
On-line reviews are a true double-edged sword and it is easy to only write in retaliation for any grievance.
To all the guests that took time out of their busy lives to write & publish a review we are truly grateful.
We've had some wonderfully supportive guests over the last several months which has been a massive boost to our morale - thank you so much.
