Damage Policy

At The Mousetrap Inn, we aim to provide a comfortable and well-maintained environment for all our guests. To ensure the quality of our facilities, guests are respectfully obliged to observe and follow our damage policy:

1. Guest Responsibility

1.1  Guests are responsible for any damage caused to our property, including but not limited to building fabric, furniture, fixtures, fittings, bedding, linens and electronic appliances.

1.2  If excessive cleaning is required due to spills, stains, or other incidents, an additional cleaning fee may apply.

1.3  Any damage caused by a guest’s negligence, misconduct, or misuse will be charged to the guest accordingly.

2. Reporting Damage

2.1 If you notice any existing damage upon check-in, please inform the reception immediately to avoid being held responsible.

2.2 In the event of accidental damage, please report it as soon as possible so we can assess and repair it promptly.

3. Lost or Stolen Items

3.1 All building contents remain the property of The Mousetrap Inn. Any missing items including electronics, furnishings, fixtures, fittings, linens, towels or decorative items will be charged to the guest accordingly.

4. Smoking & Odour Damage

4.1  Smoking is strictly prohibited in any part of the building. This is inclusive of the use of electronic cigarettes and/or vaping devices. A fine of £300 will be charged for violating this policy and any such instances of smoking (witnessed or evidenced by the presence of smoking residue, odours or other smoking paraphernalia) may result in prosection.

4.2  If the room requires deep cleaning due to lingering odours from smoking, vaping, strong food smells or other strong/pungent odour sources, additional cleaning fees may apply.

5. Room Keys

5.1  The guest is responsible for keeping the room key safe and not sharing it with others. If the key is lost, stolen or damaged, the guest will be charged a replacement fee.

5.2  A key left inside a subsequently locked room is deemed lost and a call-out fee may be incurred by the guest.

5.3  The Mousetrap Inn reserves the right to charge guests for any out-of-hours/call-out fees that may be incurred in facilitating emergency access to the room.

5.4  Guests should report a lost key immediately to prevent unauthorised access to their room or the building.

5.5  Upon checkout, guests are required to return the key (handed over in-person) to a member of staff, and failure to do so will result in a charge of £50.

5.6  Any forced or other form of unlawful entry to the property itself or any room or area within the property under any circumstance is strictly prohibited. A fine of £300 will be charged irrespective of the circumstance for violating this policy and any such instances of forced or unlawful entry may result in prosecution.

6. Charges for Damage

6.1 The Mousetrap Inn reserves the right to charge guests for:

6.1.1  Any damage (including repair or replacement costs) caused by the guest’s negligence, misconduct, or misuse.

6.1.2  Any missing items.
